"Hey, so guess what, this is the part where I split," Jay said, vaulting over the bleachers to head off.

"Hey! WAIT!" Freddie called after him. "COWARD!"

He spun to gave them a double thumbs up while running backwards.

"If you get me sent back to the Isle or ruin my cards I will straight up murder you," she told Link.

“You’re not gonna get sent anywhere,” Link said calmly, watching Jay’s retreat. “And there’s a line.”

He paused. “Actually, don’t,...Shadow, might get upset.”

"It isn't the RAIN we're worried about," she snapped.

“Yeah, I know. You have nothing to do with this.”

"You think she's going to buy that for a penny slug?" she asked, pointing to the approching, and angry looking, head master.

“I’ll tell her the truth,” Link said evenly. "If she's gonna be mad at someone, it should be me. If she doesn't believe the truth, then there's something very wrong with her."

“So, she’s a bigot too,” Link said as thunder crashed. “Good to know.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll keep you safe.”

"......." She gave him a look, then glanced back at the very angry approaching head mistress. "You know what. You do that. I'll just sit back here and see how that goes for you."

"Freddie! You have been warned and warned young lady about illegal magic."

"Not me this time, Fairy Godmother," Freddie said, trying and failing to sound innocent.

"Never seems to be, does it. But I don't see CJ around, or Jordan. So you're telling me you tricked this nice young man into doing magic for you since we locked up your shadow cards?"

Freddie looked offended. It beat looking guilty. "I didn't trick him into anything."

“Hey, she didn’t do anything wrong. I was kidnapped here accidentally and she’s been nothing but nice to me.”

Link really couldn’t stand bossy adults.

“Why don’t you wait until you know what’s going on before yelling at kids?!”

"Alright then, young man, explain it to me. In detail if you would." She crossed her arms, waiting.

“I’m trying to go home. If my ocarina can make it rain, it can teleport me home.”

"Stop whatever this storm is, and we can speak this through. In my office."

The storm was thankfully ending after she spoke.

“I’d rather not, ma’am. You’re a complete stranger. I’ll talk to you out here.”

"I am the head master of this school, young man, and you are on school grounds, using illegal magic. You will speak with me in my office. Who are your parents?"

"I don't know. They're dead. Both of them were killed in the Hyrulean Civil War. As a baby, I was adopted by the Great Deku Tree, who was murdered by Ganondorf Dragmire. Since then I was adopted by Clef. My brother is my great-great-great-great-grandson, and my soul is bound for eternity to a Princess and a villain . "

Link fixed his gaze on the woman before him. "As I said before I was kidnapped, and I'm doing whatever it takes to go home to my family and my princess. I'm not going anywhere with you."

That gaze took on the weariness of a man much older than the boy before her.

"I'm Link, by the way."

She frowned, though the lines of her face softened. "I am so sorry my dear. We will of course do all that we reasonably can to help you. But for the sake of the other students here, and for the safety of the kingdom as a whole I simply cannot allow unauthorized magic, especially in a public space. I am Fairy Godmother, head master here at Auradon prep. Please do come with me, I am certain that we can find a way to help you home."

Link shook his head. “Not going anywhere near that bigot of a king again. And I’d never do anything to hurt your kingdom, but, I’d literally walk through hell to get home.”

"Young man! I am very sorry for what you have gone through, but I will not have you speaking that way!"

“You don’t like the truth?”

Link was puzzled.

"Young man! My office! This instance." her face was getting red.

“I’d rather not, thanks. When you first came out here you were yelling at my friend who didn’t do anything wrong. You seem like you might just jump to conclusions and might not be the most trustworthy person.”
